How to Register for Classes

Students interested in registering into classes can do so online through .  You may notice that the myWestfield portal has a new look!  Please see some helpful video tutorials below:

How to Register on the Web

Log in to the myWestfield portal with your first initial, last name and last 4 digits of your CWID. Your initial password will be your CWID or current email password.

Locate the Registration Step-By-Step card to REGISTER, select Registration Checklist item #5 (Add/Drop Classes)

Advising and Registration Information

  • Day division students will be eligible to register for DGCE sections during the designated Add/Drop period.
  • DGCE matriculated students will be eligible to register for both day and evening sections courses at time of registration. There is no longer a college restriction for them.
  • Students will need a PIN in order to register. Students will need to meet with advisors to receive PIN numbers to register.
  • You can identify your assigned advisor by locating the "Advisors" card in your Westfield portal or by looking at your degree audit.
  • Prior to the start of registration, students are encouraged to check their account and determine if there are any holds that may prevent them from registering. Students can check their registration status through their myWestfield account by locating the 鈥淩egistration Step-By-Step鈥 card and selecting step 1 鈥淐heck Status & Holds鈥.

Tuition and Fee Payment

Students looking to use financial aid to cover the cost of their courses should contact financial aid at financialaid@westfield.ma.edu and confirm their eligibility.

Day Students: Spring 2025 semester bills are due December 13, 2024.  Students will receive a detailed copy of their bill prior to the due date.

DGCE Students: Payment for courses is due two (2) weeks prior to the start of the term you are enrolled. You can pay your bill online following registration with a credit/debit card or electronic check. Please note, credit/debit cards have a 2.95% service charge. Failure to pay by this date will result in a $100 late payment fee and may risk being dropped from the course.

We have provided a list of issues that may interfere with student registration.  Please review below.

Add/Drop

Online: Web registration is open from 7 a.m. 鈥 11:00 p.m. during the registration period.  During this time, returning students can make changes to their schedules online (no PIN # required).

In-Person:  All students can make adjustments to their schedules in the Registrar鈥檚 Office located in Parenzo Hall, Room 150. Office hours: 8:30 a.m. 鈥 5:00 p.m. (Mon-Thurs) 8:30 a.m. 鈥 4:00 p.m. (Fri)

Account Holds

Please see a list of possible holds that will prevent registration and who to contact to resolve them:

Academic Advising Hold: Contact your academic advisor.

Final Transcript Hold:  Missing final transcript from prior institution; this hold may be waived once for a student in their first semester at Westfield.  Contact Admissions by phone at 413-579-3040鈥痮r by email at admissions@westfield.ma.edu鈥痜or assistance.

Financial Hold: Past due balance on account. Contact Student Accounts by phone at (413) 579-3090 or by email at studentaccounts@westfield.ma.edu for assistance.

Haven Hold: Need to complete the mandatory Sexual Assault Prevention course.  Contact Marleigh Strait by phone at 413-572-8362 or by email at mstrait@westfield.ma.edu for assistance.

Health Insurance Hold: Must either waive or enroll in the University health insurance plan. Contact Student Accounts by phone at (413) 579-3090 or by email at studentaccounts@westfield.ma.edu for assistance.

Health Record Hold:  Missing required health records.  Contact Health Services by phone at 413-572-5415 or by email at healthservices@westfield.ma.edu for assistance.

Room Damages Hold: Unpaid room damage or cleaning charges.  Contact Student Accounts by phone at (413) 579-3090 or by email at studentaccounts@westfield.ma.edu for assistance.

Registration Errors

College Restriction: This registration error appears when a full-time day student tries to register for a 501 or 502 section.  Cross registration will open on November 25th, 2024.

Closed to your class/major/reserved: This registration error appears when seats held for a specific major or class level (first-year, sophomore, etc.) are filled in that course section. This does not mean you are not allowed to take the course itself. Please try registering for a different section of the course, those may be available to you.

Closed- Class Full: Students must have written approval from the faculty of the course to overload into a class.

Major, pre-requisite, co-requisite, mutual course exclusion, class or permission of instructor restriction: This registration error appears when seats held for a specific major or class level (first-year, sophomore, etc.) are filled in that course section. This does not mean you are not allowed to take the course itself. Please try registering for a different section of the course, those may be available to you.

Schedules

Please remember to review your schedule. Students will be graded for every course they are registered in at the end of add/drop. Day students must be registered in a minimum of 12 credits to be considered full-time.
